On my LAST blog I wrote about some of my recent progressions at work, albeit in a cryptical manner. Sometimes it never ceases to amaze me how quickly word gets around in my workplace, and before I even knew the full details of these developments, other people already knew! Anyways, the word on the street is that I've been put in for a command-selected promotion, meaning I'll be promoted at work sooner than anticipated :-) Although the promotion itself is great, the best part about it is how fast this will catapult me into the possibility of getting promoted again soon after that. Furthermore, to make matters even greater, I was also selected to attend the Soldier of The Month Board in June, in which I'll be competing against about 5 others for the position/title. Although I'm not bragging, it's very rewarding just being considered for the opportunity as I know that some of the people I will be competing with are more deserving than I am.
They say hard work pays off for people when they least expect it, and I definitely wasn't expecting this. While much of the work I do is often never seen by others due to the nature of my work, I can honestly say I've learned a lot these last 4 months and it's clear there is much more learning on the way. As a result, it's kind of putting much more pressure on me to be on my A-game, as my boss and several others have expressed their utter confidence in me winning the board next month and have gone as far as mentioning winning the next board level as well. While I plan on doing my best, I am also maintaining my feet on the ground and considering the realities of this situation, and this: it's completely possible I won't win this, but if I do, it really won't change much. Plus, I certainly love my life, but I DON'T love my job haha. Again, it's a nice gesture, but for now I plan on only taking it step-by-step.
Other developments: women. Well, for starters...the last relevant (if at all) connection I had with someone was Bridget, you may remember her from THIS blog. Perhaps you recall me noting in the final paragraph of the above linked blog that I considered the possibility of it being a dud, and it absolutely was...but that's a good thing. It seems as though her and I are simply on different stages in our lives, and levels too. After a little bit of confusion, primarily on my behalf, we settled on the fact and decided to keep an acquainted but friendly relationship. So that's that. The true highlight though, well possibly, is that today I received an email from Ingrid. You may remember her from THIS blog. She is the girl I met in Prague...well, just read the blog I guess instead of me reiterating it all. Anyways, in that blog I stated that I would probably never hear from her again, and I didn't...until today. After coming home from work, I checked my email and read a message that reads as follows, "Hi, how are you? Do you still remember me, we met in Prague."
I haven't replied yet, because although I was pleasantly surprised, I haven't made up in my mind what this could all be about. What I do know is that (a) she either google translated the aforementioned sentence, or she's learned English hella fast the past few months hahahaha. (b) She's writing to say hello and keep in touch, or (c) let's just say this...it's been 3 months!!! LMFAO. OH MAN.
&!*@%$^#!!!!
I love you guys. Cheers.
